Nice looking tractor Dave and a bit of a rare thing.
Is that Cop Hill area above Slaithwaite by any chance??. Used to live up at Westwood Edge below Bolster Moor years ago, know that neck of woods very well from my younger days.

Cheers

Andy

Both are looking rough but both are running sweet and both pull like a train. Just body work need a little tlc. The one with the VQ cab needs two universal joints on the front axle, still no look as of yet, but im sure some might pop up. The sekura cab will proably want replacing as it is very rotten, if anyone has one let me know please.

Yes, the pictures was taken just below the rose and crown, a nice steep, descent into slaithwaite like.

so if anyone has any universal joints or a sekura cab, let me know please.

thanks dave

The UJ components for the front axle, Kramer MK11, are very expensive if you can still get them, 4 figures each side. If you do have difficulty in finding any genuine ones you can try a Company called PPT, Premier Power Transmissions, you will need to use the old components as a pattern for them to make you new ones and if they can it will be a lot cheaper.

Forgot to say, if you can't find PPT try Fenner Power Transmissions, that's their former name and under that name they have a website.

David Browns are great but I really get nostalgic about the ERF. I ran a B series 8 wheeler bulk tipper on grain, coal and landfill, not glamourous but she was still a Lady. 14 litre Cummins only 250HP but those horses were Shires and God they could pull, range change box was well worn and you could just slide her gently through the box without using the clutch. She never let me down, unlike our Leyland Constructors, and if you wanted parts a chap called Bert Smith in Lancashire was brilliant. If I remember there was only a 6 figure chassis no which identified everything, the Leylands chassis nos. went on for ever and still the stores could get it wrong I rang the ERF factory once for some spares and Peter Foden was on the other end! They never deserved the dismal fate awaiting them but MAN look like a good outfit and at least the memory lingers on.

Shires no doubt... The standard set up on a 14L/855 Cummins here is 500 Hp and 1800 foot pounds of torque. Must have been afraid that someone would hook onto the island and move it, so they kept them detuned

Hi Richbug.
This was back in the early 90's when most 8 leggers were running about 250-275 hp now the race is well and truly on and I saw a David Brown Tractors are the best van running 450 hp the other day. A 14 litre Cummins gently driven would return the same mpg as a 10 litre going frantic. Cummins and a Jake was Yankee engineering at it's best ERF made a nice chassis and with the cab over they were very manouverable. Good combination.
