Hello everyone,

I have yesterday and today my "mainen pull" maked, and successful! yesterday have I with a David Brown 990S/1974 in the L2 gear driven. Too high!! On the 68 meters stop!! Today in the LS1 gear en successful! On the 79 meters stopped!! This 990 is not mine.

but I find the sport very nice!

Now I want from next year in the 3500 kg standard ride, but what David is the best?

1210 or 1212??

I would go for the 1212 starting in 1st gear 2nd range once moving move to 2nd and move to max rpm, when the load begins to get heavy going drop to 1st and reduce your rpm a little,[ as you knoww you are disqualified when you stop as with the manual gearbox] . When going into competition tractor pulls you may be aware that your rear tyre air pressure be reduced to make them sit more flat to give more traction. No one will beat you in this class. Regards Tom Will AUST.

He Ruud,

To be really succesfull, don't go for a DB in 3,5T, go for a naked 995 in 2,5T class or a 1494 / 1594 / 1690 Hydrashift (4wd?) in the 4,5T class.

1200 , 1210, 1212 is nice for 3,5T, but compared to the other competitors (MF 1080: 5,4 Liters and Multipower / Inter 844S), it has a too small engine. DB in 3,5T class does not look good on paper, and a DB victory is scarse, but I must admit, being the underdog is good enough for me

Groet, Dieter

He Dieter,

Than a 996 and a motor of a 1210 in it!!! Maby!!
And then in the class between 2500 and 3500 kg. Enough horsepower in a 996 and 3500 kilograms in weight, just a lot there!

Before winter begins, I make it a 996, it will be an "empire for breaking model" because it was the 850 are even being good again hopefully!

And the 996 will be no relief so I have the 850 and a trailer to use the 996 to drive!

The 995 seems to be bad, a better 996

1490/1494/1594/1690/1694 in the 4500 + kg will be fun, but son David is very expensive and I do not yet.

Greetings, Ruud

we built an engine for our 990 selectamatic, it consists of a 1200 block, crank and pistons, 1494 injection pump, timing cover and gears and a 1210 head with the larger valves, not sure on the hp but would think its over 70ish
What?! A 1200 crank and block?! Legend has it that there are more broken 1200 cranks broken than there were produced!!

Best DB for tractor pulling? White 880 straight off the production line!

Could you put a 1410/12 engine in a 995/6.

Some tractorpulling rules says the engine of the tractor must be original. Depends on the category.
I agree with Dieter: Naked 996 in 2500 kg class.

A normal 996 in 2500 will surely go well!

First my dad's barn, but is clean.

because the 850 is a mess every now and then.

the 850 is completely stripped and the engine is 3-5/8" pistons and buses for more horsepower..

How about 1594hs 2wd or 1690hs 2wd very naked in 3,5tons class??

Hi guys,

The rules in Holland regarding tractorpulling 'standard class' (NTTO organisation) are:

- 2,5T; max 70 HP on PTO, engine: 3 cylinder non-turbo / 4 cylinder non-turbo
- 3,5T; max 85 HP on PTO, engine: 3 cylinder turbo / 4 cylinder non-turbo
- 4,5T; max 110 HP on PTO, engine: 4 cylinder turbo / 6 cylinder non-turbo
- 5,5T; max 140 HP on PTO, engine: 6 cylinder turbo / 8 cylinder non-turbo

Other combinations, like 1410 engine in 990 needs to be entered in the 2,5T sport class, but then you have to compete with other DBTC members like Anne (Well prepared AD4/55T with more than 250 HP). Normal powerrating in 2,5T Sport class is around 300~350 HP.

Tractor pull competitions in Australia differ from the European rules and are based on Drawbar HP not weight and also tyres are to be standard, however you can put as much weight as you like on and this gives the David Brown a great advantage with its weight distribution and offset final drives.Cheers Tom Will Aust.
